We all still have mad love for Back to the Future, not just because of the nostalgia for when we first saw it, but because it still holds up very well. Thankfully rumors of a remake are unfounded - the fans would revolt over that, big time - but there is a musical in the works, and it’s slated to debut in London in 2015.
Gale said that making a musical out of BTTF was an idea he and Zemeckis had been toying with for about a decade. Gale promises that the show will be “true to the spirit of the film without being a slaving remake. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film.”
So it’s great to know that the legacy of Back to the Future keeps going and going, but we’re not surprised. It’s a movie about time that turned out to be timeless. Jeez, it’s been thirty years already? Feels just like yesterday I was watching it in the theaters back in the summer of ’85, enjoying the hell out of BTTF along with the rest of the world.
