The Biggest Selling Games of 2013
While the game market has always gone through a number of ups and downs, 2013 was a big year for gaming with Grand Theft Auto V, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. So what were the biggest game hits of 2013?
Well first of all, the site Motley Fool has told us that the company that really kicked ass last year in gaming was Take-Two Interactive, coming out ahead of Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard. The reason Take Two came out on top was simple: Grand Theft Auto V. Activison also did extremely well with Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it was the top selling game of the holidays, but GTA V was the top title of the year.
So now, according to Yahoo, the list of top sellers are as follows…GTA V was the big daddy of 2013 with 26.75 million copies sold world-wide. Call of Duty: Ghosts sold 12.71 million units world-wide, followed by FIFA 2014 (8.11 million), Pokemon X&Y (7.64 million), Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (4.11 million), The Last of Us (3.69 million), Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3.35 million), the Tomb Raider reboot (3.18 million), Monster Hunter IV (3.05 million), and rounding out the top ten is Bioshock Infinite (2.89 million).
The gaming pundits have been telling us that gaming is still down in spite of the huge successes of GTA and Call of Duty, these sales figures sure ain’t chicken feed either. It’s too earl to tell where gaming is headed in the upcoming year, but we think this could indeed be a very promising time for the gaming market, and it’s good to see it doing well again after the recession.
