NetFlix Getting Rid of a Number of Movies and TV Shows to Stream

Next year it’s the good news / bad news routine with Netflix. The good news is you can stream movies for $6.99 a month. The bad news is they’re going to stop renting a number of movies by the time you read this, January 1, and we’re shocked at some of the titles that will no longer be available.

It’s sad to think we could live in a world with Rodney Dangerfield’s Back to School, Being John Malkovich, Cheech and Chong’s Up In Smoke, and more. Cinema Blend listed the whole shebang, and it also includes As Good As It Gets, Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, Braveheart, Born on the Fourth of July, the Dark Shadows TV show, Do the Right Thing, I’m Gonna Get You Sucka, Flashdance, The Bad News Bears, Titanic, Top Gun, War Games, and much more.

Considering I’ve never used Netflix, again, I’m shocked that a number of these movies will no longer be available, especially considering a lot of them still have audiences. There’s plenty of modern movies that could have been purged from Netflix that nobody would miss in a million years.

As far as the new subscription deal, you can now you can stream for a dollar lower, and the quality is a bit lower too, what Variety calls standard-def, and it’s single stream as well. So now you can rent through Netflix cheaper than ever, but your movie selection will be much poorer.
