Transformers: Age of Extinction is coming to theaters on June 27, 2014, and Michael Bay promises this next installment will be less goofy than the predecessors. But don’t think he’s apologizing for the sins of Transformers past…
Now Bay writes, “I did not say I shot the last three movies ‘less cool’ then [sic] the new fourth installment. I was talking specifically about camera style and tone of the first movie compared to how I shot the new installment with a very big scale, cinematic style.”
Bay always shoots big, so how would this be any different? Well, Bay explains the first movie was shot in suburbia so you could think it’s happening anywhere. “I focused on keeping this one slick,” Bay wrote, but all of his movies are pretty slick affairs as well.
Doesn’t matter. We’re certain the next Transformers flick will be pure Bay through and through. Transformers 4 will also reportedly feature the Dinobots, which in the hands of Bay should deliver twisting, exploding, thrashing metal like no movie before. Slick or suburban, goofy or not, never expect an apology from Bay. You go see one of his movies, you know what you’re getting.
