Fifty Shades of Grey Makes a Sexy Release Date Shift

In the last several days, there have been a number of movies shifting around their release dates, including The Fantastic Four, the long awaited sequel to Independence Day, as well as Assassin’s Creed. Now it looks like Fifty Shades of Grey is moving its release date as well, and another sexy title could be moving in its place.

It shouldn’t come as any big surprise that Fifty Shades of Grey is moving to a new date, and As anyone following the saga of this movie knows, there have been some speed bumps in its journey to the big screen. First, Charlie Hunnam, who was slated to star as Christian Grey, got cold feet at the last minute and bailed out.

Then Mark Bomback (Wolverine, Oldboy) had to be brought in for a last minute script rewrite. Now Variety tells us the movie is officially being moved from its original planned release date, August 1, 2014, to February 13, 2015. One reason behind the move is Universal wants to release the film close to Valentines Day, and it also falls on a four day weekend with President’s Day the following Monday.

Moving into Grey’s original release date ise the comedy Sex Tape, a movie whose title should explain its premise pretty well. Opening the day before Sex Tape on July 31, 2014 will be Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
