Is Marvel In Danger of Being Contaminated By Twilight?

It’s been all over the news that Netflix is launching several series based on Marvel characters: Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. While Daredevil may be without fear, our hackles came up with we found out there may be a Twilight connection with Melissa Rosenberg.

We already now that Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, Cabin in the Woods) will be writing the Daredevil series, and Melissa Rosenberg, writer of the Twilight screenplays, will be working on Jessica Jones. In all fairness, she’s also written for Dexter, and she’s also onboard to write the remake of Highlander as well.

As Alan Fine, president of Marvel entertainment, told the Huffington Post, this series deal “is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty.”

Any long time reader of TGD knows we’re glad the whole Twilight thing is finally over and done, and of course there’s some cause for concern with the writer of Twilight being  involved in Jessica Jones, but we’ll certainly give this the benefit of the doubt. Just because somebody was involved in Twilight doesn’t mean it could screw up a potentially good series, although it can certainly give you some cause for worry…
