Tomorrowland Movie Delayed to 2015

Tomorrowland is a movie that’s been long rumored about on the net. What is known so far is George Clooney will star, Brad Bird (The Iron Giant) will be directing, Damon Lindelof (Lost, Prometheus) is writing, and it’s a retro sci-fi story, but nobody’s quite sure what the movie’s about at the moment.

According to a cryptic synopsis posted on Moviefone, the movie is apparently about “a washed-up inventor (George Clooney) and a bright teenage girl (Britt Robertson) who embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as ‘Tomorrowland.’”

There has also been speculation the Clooney character could be based on Nikola Tesla, but one thing we do know for certain is that Tomorrowland’s being moved to what’s already a very crowded genre summer, May 22, 2015.

Giant Freakin Robot tells us that the original release date for Tomorrowland was December 12, 2014, but now it’s being moved to what’s been speculated could have been the original Star Wars release date. Now that Star Wars is being moved to December 18, 2015, Tomorrowland indeed now has a prime spot on Memorial Day, which Star Wars made a prime release date back in 1977.

So while we don’t know much about Tomorrowland, we think a Disney movie with that title directed by the guy who gave us The Iron Giant and The Incredibles could be a terrific movie, we’re just going to have to wait a little longer to finally see it.
