S.H.I.E.L.D. Scores Big in the Ratings

“Thanks to all of you – that’s how we do.” This is a tweet from Clark Gregg in response to what shouldn’t be a big surprise to anyone: S.H.I.E.L.D. had a very strong ratings debut on ABC, and the network will also repeat the show again this Thursday.

Variety tells us that S.H.I.E.L.D. won the Tuesday night ratings war against NCIS and The Voice. Variety then reported that the ratings grew even higher, probably because of viewers watching the show later on TiVo. Overall, 12.12 million people tuned into the show, and we’re willing to bet it will only grow from here.

This certainly shouldn’t be any surprise. The Avengers are still the hottest thing since sliced bread, and the S.H.I.E.L.D. show should keep fans very satisfied until Avengers 2 is in theaters on May 1, 2015.

By and large, critical reaction to the show is very positive, and we have the feeling S.H.I.E.L.D. is absolutely going to be one of the biggest hits of the Fall. Again, with Revolution coming back to TV, and Under the Dome also going like gangbusters, it’s really a great time for genre television.
