Will the Next Star Wars film be a family affair?

In recent days, rumors have been circulating that the original stars of Star Wars, namely Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and especially Harrison Ford, are planning to come back for the upcoming film.

These stories have actually been going around for a while now, but in recent days there have been unconfirmed reports that Harrison Ford’s Star Wars comeback was already a done deal.

While we don’t know how far along the deal making is right now, very few people would know for sure and they sure aren’t going to talk about it, but there may already be some information on the plot of the next Star Wars film out there already. It’s actually not a hard thing to guess, because by this point Luke, Han and Leia would all be much older, and the kids would of course have to pick up the mantle.

This tidbit came from the site Showbiz 411, which headlined their report: “Star Wars Fans: Don’t Worry, All Three Originals Are Returning.” In this report, Roger Friedman writes, “Obviously this new movie won’t pick up where Return of the Jedi ended. It’s some time in the future. Han, Princess Leia, and Luke Skywalker will be a lot of older. Their children will be the new main characters.”

Actually, I was always of the understanding that Star Wars wasn’t in the future, but was a world before a world, especially with the famous tagline, “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.” And if it doesn’t take place after Return of the Jedi, it’s supposed to take place years after? Yes, this report is a bit confusing, but it could indeed make logical sense that the kids of Luke, Han and Leia could be taking over the business.

According to Collider, the screenplay for the next Star Wars is still in the works right now by Michael Arndt, but it will apparently be based on the outlines Lucas put together years ago. Like the report that Harrison Ford already closed his Han Solo deal, treat this story as a rumor right now, no matter how informed so and so’s sources are.

If Star Wars will continue on in a family tradition, it will be interesting to see what the children of Luke, Han and Leia will look like, and if the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree with their personalities and destinies.
