Nolan wants a Catwoman spinoff

One of the biggest concerns I’ve had with the latest Dark Knight film is Catwoman.

It’s way too easy to ruin the character by making her too silly and camping it up.

Much like Batman and Robin was the nadir of Batman movies, the Catwoman film with Halle Berry was an absolute disgrace that must never rise from the grave again.

While I haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, I haven’t read any bad reviews of Anne Hathaway at Catwoman either, so I’m naturally quite  curious to see how Hathaway brings her to life.

Now a report on ScienceFiction.com tells us that Christopher Nolan wants to see Catwoman get her very own movie, although I’m not so sure this would be such a great idea. But anyways, here we go…

“Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She’s really built it from the ground up, it’s just a delight to watch her perform,” Nolan told Access Hollywood.

“She’s an incredible character and we’re very excited to see her, and hopefully we’ll leave people wanting more. For me, Gotham and these character, I’m done. I’ve told our story and I’m moving on… [but] I certainly think she deserves it, she’s incredible.”

Again, not so sure about this, but what’s Catwoman without a powerful protagonist like Batman? Yes, the normal Gotham police could be after her, but that’s not going to be all that exciting. Then again, what do I know? I haven’t seen Hathaway’s performance yet, so not sure if the new Catwoman can carry a movie or not. Also remember, she’s the secondary villain to Bane in this one as well.

In other Dark Knight news, as of Wednesday July 18, the film has sold $25 million dollars in advance ticket sales, and Variety reports theaters are bracing themselves for huge crowds and demands, which is going to be rather difficult – so expect big crowds whether you have your advance tickets or not.
