On LOTR, LEGO games and Middle Earth
LEGO has taken the wraps off an upcoming Lord of the Rings (LOTR) video game that crosses the Tolkien-inspired movie trilogy with the toy series.
Slated to go live in fall 2012, LEGO: The Lord of the Rings will be available on a number of video game platforms, including the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS/3Ds and Playstation Vita.
According to LEGO, the game is based on Peter Jackson’s popular adaptation of the classic trilogy - following the original story lines of Fellowship, Two Towers and Return of the King.
Indeed, LEGO: Lord of the Rings takes players along on the adventures of Frodo Baggins and his fellowship of nine as they set out on a perilous journey to destroy The One Ring and save Middle-Earth on the way to Mount Doom.
Players traverse the Misty Mountains, explore the Mines of Moria, knock on the Black Gate of Mordor, and participate in epic battles with Orcs, Uruk-hai, the Balrog and other fearsome foes - all while solving LEGO puzzles and explore an expansive Middle-earth.
As expected, gamers can also assume the role of their favor LOTR character, such as Frodo the Hobbit, Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir of Gondor, Merry and Pippin.
