Superheros and their pimped out 'cycles

We recently reported that the Bat tumbler will be going on the road for anyone who wants to see a killer superhero vehicle up close and in person.

We're also sure that every self-respecting superhero fan has seen the photo of Anne Hathaway, aka Catwoman, on her motorcycle, complete with goggles, for The Dark Knight Rises.

Superheros and their pimped out 'cyclesOne of the coolest things about superhero flicks are the vehicles, I still love the original Batmobile from the show, which is practically a Pinto in today's high tech custom auto world, and according to the L.A. Times, motorcycles have also apparently been making quite a comeback in this summer's movies, with Captain American riding a Harley, not to mention in Men in Black 3, there's a flashback to 1969 where one of the leads rides a hog, a la Easy Rider.

And as we also reported on TG, a reproduction of the Tron lightcycle is also available if you've got the money to spend.

As the president of a product placement company told the Times, "There are a lot more action movies these days and a lot more franchise movies, a la The Avengers or Iron Man, so you see more high-end performance bikes. The fact that a bike can do more and be sleeker and have more horsepower and have a better turning radius as you're trying to get through traffic on a major freeway chase scene, that's pivotal to keeping the audience involved in the movie."

Of course, gadgets and what the rich can afford is a lot of fun to watch too. Tony Stark's mansion with all his electronic doo-dads and expensive vehicle collection is totally cool, and in addition to the Bat Tumbler, how cool was Bruce Wayne's Ducati?

But as we know going back to Brando in the Wild One, Steve McQueen in The Great Escape, Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper in Easy Rider, and Tom Laughlin in Billy Jack, bikes are cool, and can immediately add to any actor's anti-hero or cool loner factor.

Plus, as mentioned above, it's a great way to escape somewhere in a hurry, especially if you have to save Gotham from falling into bedlam and have no time to slog through rush hour.
