Microsoft rolls out $99 Xbox 360

Microsoft has rolled out a $99 Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle. The catch?

You’ll need to sign up for a two-year subscription to Xbox Live Gold, which runs a cool $14.99 per month.

But hey, $15 per month isn’t bad (just think about your cell phone bill), and at the end of the day, you’ll have an Xbox 360 along with a Kinect for just $99 up front.

Unfortunately, the promotional offer - which can end any time - doesn’t appear to be redeemable online, so you’ll have to make your way to the nearest Microsoft store and print out this coupon.

If you aren’t happy with the Xbox 360 and Kinect for some strange reason (say the Xbox 720 suddenly arrives), you can return the hardware and cancel the subscription within 30 days, but the first $14.99 payment is non-refundable.

And, as expected, after 30 days, users will incur an inevitable early termination fee (ETF) that starts at $250 and decreases as the two years elapse.

It remains unclear when Microsoft plans to launch its next-gen console, as Redmond has reportedly denied that it will unveil the Xbox 720 or Next at E3 this June. Nevertheless, recent reports indicate that the Texas-based Flextronics is already manufacturing Xbox 720 prototypes for devs and partners.

Although Microsoft has yet to release any official details about its next-gen Xbox, there is certainly no shortage of rumors, with the latest (often conflicting) speculation claiming that the Xbox 720 will feature a Blu-ray drive, some sort of solid state media and require a persistent Internet connection.
