Resident Evil 6 horror trailer is captivating

Capcom is showcasing its long-awaited Resident Evil 6 (RE6) trailer at Captivate 2012.

The game – which successfully meshes horror and fast-paced FPS action – will launch on October 2, 2012, rather than early 2013 as originally anticipated.

As another bonus for gamers, Resident Evil 6 features three completely unique stories that intertwine – but are played on their own.

The title will also support drop-in, drop-out experiences across all three stories for both online and offline gaming.

As expected, Resident Evil stalwarts Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield are back in RE6 with a number of new characters. The two join up with US government agent Helena Harper, BSAA member Piers Nivans, gun for hire Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin, the daughter of former key Umbrella scientists.

All 6 characters are forced to contend with a bioterrorist threat – the highly virulent C-virus – across three continents: North America, the Eastern European state of Edonia and the Chinese city of Lanshiang.

Yes, there are zombies, but these agile monsters are far worse than the typical undead as they carry weapons and know how to use them. Players will also be stalked by J’avo, morphing creatures capable of regenerating with each body part that’s been shot at, along with the mysterious Chyrsalide, a species which traps humans in Alien-like cocoons.

Fortunately, players can shoot while moving, as well as slid and roll in any direction to take cover. They’ll obviously need the extra mobility in a game like this.
