Demanding a Guns ‘N Roses reunion

Posted by David Konow

Who didn’t love Guns N' Roses when they exploded on the scene with Appetite For Destruction?

It’s one of those classic albums that will probably never die, and who wouldn’t love to see a reunion with the original line-up?

It would also be nice if we could bring Elvis back from the dead for one more romp through Vegas, and that’s probably more likely to happen before the original five members of GNR are ever in the same room again, let alone touring the world.

Still, with Van Halen coming back with a sort of new album and touring, anything’s possible, right? Clearly a lot of new fans have no idea how impossible Axl is to deal with, how insane and illogical he is, and how he wouldn’t know common sense if he tripped over it because this open letter was posted as the band’s induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame draws near.

As the L.A. Times reports, it reads, in part, that the induction is "Our one and only chance to see the original lineup on stage together again, if only for five minutes. With less than 2 weeks before the induction, the fans are watching as our reunion hopes start to disappear like Marty McFly’s family in a Polaroid picture...

"It would be easy for you to just show up, accept the induction, spend a few awkward minutes together at a podium and not talk again until somebody’s funeral. But this time we need more... Your music has inspired billions of people. We beg you to pick up the phone, grab your instruments, drag Izzy to Cleveland and play together. You can make music history. Please do it. Give us one more memory. We deserve it."

And as Axl told the times, in his usual nonsensical way, "I’ve got mixed emotions about what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame actually really is, but at the same time, there’s a lot of people – the fans – that it just means something to them, and they’re happy. It’s like you won the Heisman or something. I’ve had people of all ages. In Indiana, I hadn’t been there in 18 years, and you’ve got elderly TSA guys, 100 pounds overweight, come up, and they’re happy. So I don’t want to take that away from them."

Sadly, it’s doubtful anyone from the band will even show up to the Hall of Fame ceremony, except for maybe Steven Adler and Duff, Izzy for certain won’t come out of hiding to be there, and good luck getting Axl there at all, let alone on time.

The open letter to the band is a nice gesture, if only Axl gave a sh*t about his fans, or anyone else.

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a GNR reunion is just not gonna happen. Sorry kids, but Axl will never stop cutting off his nose to spite his face, and like John Lennon once told us, the dream is over.
