The return of the X-Men

The original X-Men movie was a big turning point for comic movies, as the major studios finally began taking the medium seriously.

Stan Lee himself called it a major milestone in comic movies, and the sequel was even better.

The return of the X-MenAlthough many feel the X-Men movies suffered somewhat without Bryan Singer at the helm, and last summer’s X-Men prequel, X-Men: First Class got mixed notices, it certainly did well enough to launch more in the series, $353.6 million worldwide, and that’s just what’s coming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new X-Men team behind First Class are back for the next installment in the series.

Director Matthew Vaughn, who also helmed Stardust and Kick-Ass, will be back directing the upcoming X-Men installment, as will be Michael Fassbender, who played Magneto, and Jennifer Lawrence, who played Mystique.

Of course, both Fassbender and Lawrence’s stars should be rising high this year - with Michael featured in Prometheus, and Jennifer headlining The Hunger Games.

Simon Kinberg, screenwriter of X-Men: The Last Stand, Sherlock Holmes, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be penning the script, and Bryan Singer is back producing.

The Singer helmed X-Men films may end up being the best of the series, and the second film also made filmmakers up their game in making sequels better than the originals. Here's hoping the new, rebooted series will also get progressively better and better.
