Journalism instructor forced to resign over steamy chats

A journalism instructor at the University of North Carolina has been forced to resign after engaging in a scandalous series of online sex chats with a female student.

Of course, as Gawker confirms, the steamy exchange was hardly Monty Cook’s first inappropriate and racy dialogue with a woman while on the job.

But this time, the girl’s “angry” boyfriend came looking for the red-faced Cook, forcing him to ‘fess up to school authorities.

Cook – a married father of two – was head of the Reese Felts Digital Newsroom, a “new media” project at the UNC j-school.

He’d apparently returned to Carolina in 2010 after more than 20 years of journalism and news management experience.
