Microsoft: Project Natal to save the world from button overload

Posted by Starr Keshet

A Microsoft spokesperson has claimed that Natal will eventually replace the "multitude" of buttons and remote control devices in living rooms throughout the world.

"If you counted the number of buttons in your living room, it would send a chill down your spine," Marc Whitten, general manager, Xbox 360, told Fast Company.

Microsoft: Project Natal to save the world from button overloadEr, what?!

Is Microsoft now equating remote control devices with Freddy Kruger, American Psycho, Tipper Gore and the rather portly Rush Limbaugh?

Talk about a lame FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) campaign!

"A lot of people can play games amazingly well, but others feel locked out if games involve a bunch of triggers and buttons," claimed Whitten.

"But Natal isn't just about gaming."

Hmmm. It isn’t?

No, really, insisted Whitten, "t's about all living room experiences.”

Say what?

"Imagine a sporting event. Natal could know which team you're for because it sees your jersey, or knows you thought a bad call was made when you yell 'boo.'"

Uh huh. Isn’t that what friends are for?!

"It learns about you and gets smarter to create a more tailored entertainment experience."

Creepy!
