Paul Walker, star of The Fast and The Furious franchise, has died

He was the Yin to Vin Diesel’s Yang, the bright shining star of one of the biggest franchises in movies today. Paul Walker has been killed in a car crash north of Los Angeles.

Paul Walker, 40, has died in a car accident this afternoon near Santa Clarita, north of Los Angelse, reports TMZ. His Porsche was rin an accident when it apparently lost control and crashed into a tree.

The car caught fire, and it is said that it exploded. Authorities are investigating but there may have been another person in the vehicle, also assumed dead, in the one-car accident. It is unclear who was driving at the time. Local TV Station CBS 2 in Los Angeles says the crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. on the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia. Walker may have been taking people on test drives of the car at a car show to raise money for victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.

The actor is survived by his daughter, Meadow, aged 15. It’s a pretty tragic loss for a guy who had transitioned from teen jerk roles to being one of the more likable film personalities of the last decade.
