Paul Walker, star of The Fast and The Furious franchise, has died

  • He was the Yin to Vin Diesel's Yang, the bright shining star of one of the biggest franchises in movies today. Paul Walker has been killed in a car crash north of Los Angeles.

Paul Walker, 40, has died in a car accident this afternoon near Santa Clarita, north of Los Angelse, reports TMZ. His Porsche was rin an accident when it apparently lost control and crashed into a tree.

The car caught fire, and it is said that it exploded. Authorities are investigating but there may have been another person in the vehicle, also assumed dead, in the one-car accident. It is unclear who was driving at the time. Local TV Station CBS 2 in Los Angeles says the crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. on the 28300 block of Rye Canyon Loop in Valencia. Walker may have been taking people on test drives of the car at a car show to raise money for victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.

The actor is survived by his daughter, Meadow, aged 15. It's a pretty tragic loss for a guy who had transitioned from teen jerk roles to being one of the more likable film personalities of the last decade.
