GallowWalkers trailer seeks the noose

Vantage Media has posted the first trailer for its new Wesley Snipes lead western fantasy adventure.

GallowWalkers is strikingly familiar to another of Wesley Snipes fantasy adventure films. A dangerous man, orphaned at a young age under supernatural circumstances, is hunting a new interpretation of a classic monster archetype. That’s the backbone of the plot of Blade, a trilogy of films adapting the comic book story of a half-vampire vampire hunter.

We haven’t seen Snipes do much else since that trilogy ended in 2004. Mostly small projects, and none of them particularly remarkable. Perhaps this is why he’s decided to get back on the action film train with this GallowWalkers. The new film follows supernaturally talented gunslinger Aman around the American West in the time of gunfights and local justice, as he hunts and slays zombie cowboys, many of whom were originally his victims.

To be honest, it looks a little bit hokey, but on-purpose hokey, like they’re going for a grind-house vibe or perhaps the feel of a Tarantino flick. Time will tell if they’ve pulled it off.

The official synopsis of the film is thus:

Gallowwalkers is the story of a mysterious gunman, Aman (Snipes), the son of a nun, who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. Her break with God curses her son to be hunted by all those who die by his hand – When he takes revenge on a gang that murdered his love, the gang rises as a cursed crew of undead warriors and hunt him mercilessly, seeking their ‘dying’ revenge.

GallowWalkers has no set release date, but one will likely be set soon, as they are nearly finished with post-production.
