Bioshock Infinite trailer takes the lamb
Irrational Games has released a dramatic new trailer for their upcoming dystopian adventure game.
Bioshock Infinite may have a lot of lofty themes, and take place in a symbolically charged, incredibly dynamic city, but at its core, it’s still just a classic story of a hero’s quest. Booker, our protagonist, is a veteran turned mercenary who takes on a mysterious job. Ascend into Columbia, the city in the clouds, and retrieve Elizabeth, a young woman who has been held captive there for 12 years. Together, Booker and Elizabeth fight their way across Columbia, exploring the decline of the once-utopic city, and discovering the limit of the girl’s great power. She can alter reality by briefly pulling parallel worlds into alignment. She’s dangerous, and not just to Booker's new enemies.
This new trailer shows us a lot more of what interacting with Elizabeth throughout the game will be like. She won’t just be a tag-along, there to be rescued, or even a simple assistant. What she is -and the things she can do - will define the nature of the entire narrative.
While the video is very dramatic, and compelling, it doesn’t really explain Elizabeth’s power, although this video from last year does a better job of that:
The game’s synopsis is thus:
The year is 1912 and Booker DeWitt is headed to the city of Columbia. A technological marvel amongst the clouds, Columbia holds a dark secret, and with it, a mysterious girl. Upon arrival, Booker discovers that rescuing the imprisoned girl will be more difficult than he could have imagined.
Bioshock Infinite will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows on March 26, 2013. You have to pre-order the game to receive the bonus items, which also includes a copy of Mind in Revolt if you pre-order on Amazon specifically. It is also available for pre-order over on Steam.
