Crysis (3) sets the standard yet again

One of the key features that gamers look forward to in terms of new consoles is raw graphics horsepower.

We already know that Crytek's Crysis 3 video game will boast very impressive graphics on current generation Xbox and PS3 game consoles. Sure, the game may look a little better on tricked-out PCs, but Crytek believes that it is doing everything that can be done for graphics on current-gen consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3).

As Crytek CEO Cevat Yeril recently told CVG, "I don't think Crytek can do more on current generation consoles than Crysis 3."

"I actually think people will be astonished that next-gen launch titles from other companies might not be much different from Crysis 3."

While Yeril didn't offer any details on what games his company might be working on for the launch of the Xbox 720 (Next) and PlayStation 4 game consoles, he did offer a single comment, noting that "Crytek's projects generally will be way above what we've achieved on the existing consoles."

As we've frequently discussed on TG Daily, Crysis 3 is one of the most anticipated titles of the year and promises to be a great addition to the Crysis franchise that gamers have come to know and love.

"Crysis 3 has its own visual identity, [the urban rainforest] is a world that hasn't been done before, that kind of depiction, the quality and level of immersion. I think no game has ever done that kind of setting, it's a visual spectacle," Yeril added.

"It has not even been done in Hollywood. People might suggest there are similarities with I Am Legend, but that is quite different to this. I Am Legend is overgrown, but Crysis 3's urban rainforest is a whole different level of that. It has its own identity and I'm very proud of what the team achieved in this regard."
