Bioshock Infinite trailer shows us the city in the sky
Bioshock Infinite takes players into the balloon-lofted world of Columbia, a floating city-state in an alternate 1912.
Columbia was built on the core principal that the founding fathers of the United States were as gods among men, and had a perfect and clear understanding of how men should be ruled. Originally part of the US, the city’s fanaticism eventually led it to secede from the Union, and float away.
It is into this world that the game’s protagonist is dropped, and it is from this world which he, and a girl with special, misunderstood abilities, must escape. Of course, they’ll have to fight their way out.
The newest trailer for the game offers us our best look yet at the tone and style of the game, and how the tale will be told - with fully in-engine sequences.

The year is 1912 and Booker DeWitt is headed to the city of Columbia. A technological marvel amongst the clouds, Columbia holds a dark secret, and with it, a mysterious girl. Upon arrival, Booker discovers that rescuing the imprisoned girl will be more difficult than he could have imagined.
One of the most interesting game elements which will be introduced here is Elizabeth’s abilities, which seem to be akin to a ‘making-real’ of alternate times and places. If you haven’t had a chance to catch it previously, this video interview from last year, with Irrational Games' Creative Director Ken Levine, provides a good look at how that ability looks and works:

Bioshock Infinite will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows on March 26, 2013. You have to pre-order the game to receive the bonus items, which also includes a copy of Mind in Revolt if you pre-order on Amazon specifically. It is also available for pre-order over on Steam.
