DayZ mod a collaborative effort

We all know about the zombie-centric DayZ that started off as a mod for ARMA II and was ultimately picked up to be turned into a standalone video game. The title is still in the works, and we hope to see the finished version before the end of the year. For now, though, if you feel like playing DayZ and killing zombies, you have to fire up the DayZ mod.

A "half-done" patch was recently offered up to the community which allows players to make their own changes and fixes to the software. The software brings the game mod to version 1.7.3 and Dean Hall, the creator of DayZ and project lead for the standalone video game of the same name, says it is the first patch to feature a collaborative effort between Bohemia Interactive and the game community.

"This is the first community + development team generated update for the DayZ mod. The half-done 1.7.3 patch was made available to the community, who included many of their own fixes and updates. While dogs are 'in' there are some mechanics missing so they cannot currently be used. Both myself and Matt spent a significant amount of time playing this today, and it was a lot of fun," he explained.

"Many others helped with testing and such. Please get involved with the community development project! There is much being done, new features and content. Official support is also being made available to community development team members for some requests, where possible."

Client:
• [NEW] Tents can no longer be placed on concrete.
• [FIXED] Building checks for tent placement (No longer place tents in buildings).
