Resident Evil 6 PS3 patch on the way

Capcom is working on a fix to Resident Evil 6.

Players who purchased the game digitally through the PS3’s online Playstation Store have noticed that they cannot load the game at all.

In a statement to IGN, publisher Capcom wrote, “Essentially it is recognized that some consumers who downloaded the game from the PSN store pre-loaded (pre-order) or within the early hours of launch may be experiencing problems booting up the game. In short, early purchasers who tried to download the game from PSN store may have seen an error message, after they downloaded the day 1 patch.”

The publisher suggested that users uninstall and then re-install the game to see if that fixes the problem. Users should not download the patch when they reinstall the game. Capcom is working on creating a better solution, but says that should alleviate the issue for now.

Unfortunately, because users who bought the digital version of the game are being told not to download the patch, they are unable to compete online with other PS3 gamers who bought the disc-based version of the title.

Resident Evil is one of the longest-lasting video game franchises for the mature, adult crowd, with its tantalizing mix of horror, blood, and incredible story. To have any sort of problem with the launch of a new installment is a big deal for fans, so hopefully Capcom can get this resolved as quickly as possible.
