Microsoft launches Halo 4 Web series teaser

  • Get a look at what to expect from Microsoft's Halo 4 hype-building live-action series. The episodic series, to be presented exclusively online, is meant to get gamers salivating so they are fully wrapped into a frenzy when the new Halo game launches later this year.

    So while it may have messed up the opportunity to turn Halo into a multi million-dollar theatrical movie success, but the highly successful Xbox shooter franchise will be getting transformed into a live-action masterpiece nevertheless.

    In Forward Unto Dawn, Master Chief will work with a cadet who is ends up becoming a leader on a UNSC spaceship. Each episode will be 15 minutes and new episodes will be added on a weekly basis.

    The new teaser video is described as such:

    "Get into the minds of three recruits as they enter Corbulo Academy in Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. Welcome to Corbulo Academy of Military Science, the UNSC's premiere training facility for its brightest minds. From the very beginning, this arduous academy readies them for a life a of order, structure, sacrifice and belief in the righteous cause of the UNSC."

    A press release described the series, saying, "As Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. Inspired by the Master Chief, he must decide what it means to be a hero."

    The Halo franchise is one of Microsoft's biggest cash cows. Since its initial launch in 2001, more than 40 million Halo games have been sold, generating more than $2 billion in sales. The failed attempt at a big screen adaptation was reported to be at its apex in 2005.
