From Daredevil to Akira

While superhero mania may be cooling down a bit, Daredevil has been going like gangbusters on Netflix, and now one of the top writers on Devil is up to write the big screen adaptation of Akira.

Akira is a famed manga, and as Collider and The Hollywood Reporter tell us, this has been in development for a long time, and Marco J. Ramirez, a writer for Daredevil who has been promoted to showrunner, will be writing the script.

Like a lot of movies that are in development forever, there have been a number of creative people involved in Akira over the years, and Ramirez is the latest hoping to bring the big screen version to life. Akira is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, along with Andrew Lazar, who also produced American Sniper.

As The Reporter tells us, Akira almost got made in 2012 and was going to potentially star Garrett Hedulund, Kristen Stewart, Ken Watanabe, and Helena Bonham Carter.
