Rockchip’s RK3188 SoC powers this 8-inch Android Yuandao N80 tablet

The Rockchip RK3188 quad-core processor is shaping up to be one of the most common chips found in Android tablets, PCs-on-a-stick and set-top boxes.

Indeed, we’ve already seen the chip turn up under the hood of the Cube U30GT2 tablet and a few Android TV sticks.

Another new tablet powered by Rockchip’s RK3188 tipped up today. It is dubbed the Yuando N80 or Video 80 – depending on where you buy the off-brand device, which is currently available at retailer Geekbuying for a cool $179.

Specs? 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, and Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The tablet also boasts an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Overall dimensions are 7.8 x 5.9 x 0.4-inches, with a weight of 15 ounces.

It is probably also worth noting that the tablet should perform quite well, as benchmarks indicate the Rockchip RK3188 is one of the top performing processors for Android tablets on the market today. The processor operates at 1.6 GHz and is paired with ARM Mali 400 graphics.

As with any white box Chinese tablet, one big concern is the notoriously spotty quality control and technical support. So if you’re willing to take a risk on this $180 tablet, be sure and let us know about the quality of the device.

The N80 is about $80 less expensive than the Cube tablet we discussed earlier this month. That tablet is priced at about $300 and is equipped with 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, and a five-megapixel rear camera. Unfortunately, there is no indication of front or back cameras for the N80.
