Playstation 3 TV tuner, DVR officially announced

Leipzig (Germany) - Following an preliminary announcement earlier this year, Sony has officially unveiled PlayTV, a new service that transforms the PS3 into a digital video recorder.PlayTV incorporates a dual digital tuner to the PS3 to receive two cable or satellite feeds.  It includes an on-screen program guide, high definition capability, and basic DVR controls like the ability to control live TV.

Sony debuts touch-screen cameras

Culver City (CA) - Sony has launched a new line of Cyber-shot digital cameras, including two that incorporate a new touch-screen interface. Sony has used touch screen controls in previous models mainly for menu navigation, but the DSC-T200 and DSC-T70 go a step further. Users can tap a spot on the viewfinder with their finger and the shot will automatically focus on that point.  Also, somewhat in the vein of the iPhone, users can touch a picture in playback mode to zoom in and move the image around on the screen.

Leipzig (Germany) - Microsoft today announced an update to its Sidewinder line of gaming mouses with a new set that includes customizable controls and a LCD.Announced at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany, the new Sidewinder model delivers numerous updates over previous versions.  Among the new features are a wider scroll wheel, two vertical side buttons, and a built-in macro that lets players more easily search their in-game surroundings in the middle of a quest or battle.

Samsung unveils compact HD camcorder

Samsung will announce a new HD video camcorder at the upcoming consumer electronics trade show IFA 2007 in Berlin, Germany. Sony introduces 1080p HD projector

Tokyo (Japan) - Sony has unveiled its latest high definition projector, claiming a contrast ratio of 35,000:1. Using SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) technology, the new HD projection unit carries more than double the contrast of its predecessor, the VPL-VW50. The greater contrast ratio is attributed to the projector's use of Advanced Iris 2, a technology that more clearly regulated the amount of light going through the projector's lenses.
