There’s been recent speculation that several other superheroes will be appearing in Batman Vs Superman, which will hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Rumors were going around that Warner Brothers has been auditioning actresses to play Wonder Woman, and there was also speculation that Nightwing could be part of the story as well.
They said it couldn’t be done, but never say never. Michael Bay always swore up and down he’d never do another Transformers film, but thankfully for fans of the franchise he changes his mind a lot. After helming his dream movie, Pain and Gain, about muscle heads up to no good, Bay is indeed back for Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Considering we love The Simpsons here on TGD, we were surprised to realize the show was never available for streaming until now. In fact, as media outlets everywhere are reporting, The Simpsons will be rolling in plenty of D’oh!, because they just closed a huge deal with FXX for streaming syndication.
Okay, so Almost Human may not be the most original idea for a sci-fi show, but it’s gotten pretty good reviews, and it looks like it’s gotten off to a pretty good start in the ratings. It wasn’t able to beat out major league football, like Walking Dead finally did, but again, it still did pretty well.
Who cares about Batman Vs Superman? When are they going to make Batkid: the Movie? By now, everyone’s read the incredible story of Miles Scott, a five-year-old child who was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 18 months old, and is now in remission. Thanks to the Make a Wish foundation, Miles was a superhero for a day, and San Francisco transformed into Gotham City to make this special kid’s fantasy complete.
Many fans of Austin Powers know that the character of Dr. Evil was inspired by Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live. But Dr. Evil was of course also inspired by Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the villain from Thunderball, who was played by Donald Pleasance. While we may never see another Austin Powers movie again, there may be the possibility that Blofeld could come back to the James Bond franchise.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, in this writer’s humble opinion Kiss absolutely deserve to be in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. You can’t compare them to Nirvana in a million years, it’s like comparing apples and oranges, but both groups, on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, have made major rock history, and deserve their place in the hall.
Love it or hate it, comic book movies aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, and the explosion of The Avengers last summer has only made the genre stronger. Thor: The Dark World didn’t get the greatest reviews in the world, but because he’s part of the Avengers team, he’s still coming out on top against all comers.
We just reported here on TGD about the post launch problems with the PS4. But, on Black Friday, November 15, Sony released PlayStation 4, which is a hundred dollars cheaper than the Xbox One, and it did well. So, let's applaud the good start so that we are not labeled haters.
This could become one of the cult sci-fi movies of 2014. It's being favorably compared to Blade Runner, and Caity Lotz has real star power. Check out the trailer.
The fourth Jurassic Park movie, which is titled Jurassic World is now fully up and running, and headed for a June 12, 2015 date. Like Star Wars, Jurassic World is currently firming up its cast, and Bruce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, and Nick Robinson are all aboard.
Whenever rebooting a property, Hollywood likes to go “dark.” Batman went much darker when Christopher Nolan came aboard. But some properties you have a hard time imagining going dark. Like Super Mario Brothers for example…
We’ve been hearing about the end of the album for some time now. A lot of artists have been saying they don’t see the point in doing albums, and in today’s day and age it probably makes more sense to put out a song at a time, which is a shame, because there were artists that really made albums an art.
On November 11, 2011, or 11-11-11, the original line-up of Black Sabbath announced they would be recording a new album and would be touring the world for the first time in over thirty years. There were some serious snags along the way, original drummer Bill Ward bowed out, and guitarist Tony Iommi became ill with lymphoma, but they did finish a new album entitled 13 with Rick Rubin producing.
We all know that new technology can have a huge impact on our lives. Think about what our lives were like before and after the VCR, home computers, e-mail, and the internet. Now new gaming consoles are about to hit the market, and two rival companies, Sony and Microsoft, are about to do battle for your Xmas dollar.
So many times in Hollywood, some new technology is being hailed as the salvation of the business. First it was the return of 3D. Imax has been doing incredible business these days, especially with success of Gravity. But one technology that apparently isn’t sticking is 48 frames per second.
In the last several days, there have been a number of movies shifting around their release dates, including The Fantastic Four, the long awaited sequel to Independence Day, as well as Assassin’s Creed. Now it looks like Fifty Shades of Grey is moving its release date as well, and another sexy title could be moving in its place.
It’s been all over the news that Netflix is launching several series based on Marvel characters: Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. While Daredevil may be without fear, our hackles came up with we found out there may be a Twilight connection with Melissa Rosenberg.
History often repeats itself, especially in Hollywood. Back in the late seventies, Star Trek: The Motion Picture actually became the most expensive movie of its time, costing a whopping $46 million. The film did well, but with Star Trek II, Paramount cut a lot of corners and delivered the cheapest film in the franchise. Not only did it come in at the rock bottom price of $11.2 million, it also made a ton of dough at the box office, and is still the best movie in the series
Will Smith was initially up for the remake of Oldboy, which made a lot of fans balk. The original’s a pretty dark and disturbing story, which didn’t fit in with Will Smith’s wholesome image. (Neither did Django Unchained either, another role Smith was up for, but ultimately passed on.)
