The news that there’s a Knight Rider remake in the works shouldn’t come as any surprise to anyone. Practically everything’s being remade at this point, and we’re sure Baywatch was going to get the big screen treatment at some point as well. After all, if Gilligan’s Island the Movie is in development at Warner Brothers, any tired old TV show is up for grabs.
When George Lucas sold his company to Disney, it wasn’t just for three more Star Wars films. There’s plans for a number of spin-off stories, including possible stand alone movies with Han Solo, Boba Fett, and Yoda.
There are many characters and stories to be told out of the Marvel universe, and the ones that revolve around the Avengers universe have been doing very well these days. The next Avengers movie, Age of Ultron, just started shooting in South Africa, and now reports have surfaced that Black Widow may have her own movie as well.
We just reported on TGD that Need For Speed, the upcoming big screen game adaptation, will be converted to 3D. This was a last minute decision, because the movie’s coming out on March 14, and the timing has us wondering. Is the studio desperate? Are they hoping a 3D conversion will make more money overseas?
Most of us know Morgan Freeman’s wonderful acting, as well as his distinctive voice on documentaries, but what you may not know about him is he’s fascinated with aliens and astronomy. In fact, his dream project is a movie adaptation of the famous sci-fi novel Rendezvous with Rama, written by Arthur C. Clarke, which still has yet to get made.
With the new RoboCop hitting theaters, Michael Keaton’s been doing a lot of press lately because he has a featured role in the film. It’s good to see him back, because we’re big fans of him over at TGD, and we definitely missed him on the big screen.
We kinda figured the RoboCop reboot wasn’t going to be anything spectacular, but we were still hoping for the best. We also figured that almost any new movie, especially in a month that’s completely dead like February, would do pretty well opening weekend because there’s not that much out there to see right now.
We just reported here on TGD that the role of the Vision for Avengers Age of Ultron has been cast, and he will be played by Paul Bettany. We were also trying to speculate when the movie would actually start shooting, but apparently it’s already underway.
Michael Keaton is in the new RoboCop, and he had fun talking about the new RoboCop suit, which is much easier to move around in than the usual armored movie costume. Keaton should know. He had to wear that cumbersome, hard rubber Batsuit back in 1989, which was very hard to move around in, but it set the template for superhero costumes today.
Anyone who follows gaming knows that the market has a lot of ups and downs. While some pundits have said that the market hasn’t been in the best shape, even with huge successes like Call of Duty, a new report tells us the gaming market could be finally be back, big time.
It was such a damn shame when Freddie Mercury died, because Queen were finally coming back, and could have enjoyed a whole new life as a band. You can never replace such a singular talent as Freddie, although Queen has recorded and toured with Paul Rodgers from Bad Company.
Microsoft, a company whose heart grew 3 sizes in anticipation of Valentine's Day, is giving away free access to all gameplay. Not for anyone but US and Canadian gamers, though.
There have been some funny goofs on the undead over the years, starting with Shaun of the Dead, and going up to literary parodies like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. But can a movie that combines zombies and soccer be a winner?
Video games are known for violence, we all know that. You shoot things, you blow things up, you rampage and go crazy from the comfort of your console, and nobody’s really getting hurt. In fact, I’ve always felt it’s better to get your aggressions out in a game, instead of actually hurting somebody.
However it turns out, good, bad or indifferent, we all know that Star Wars is going to be the big genre flick to see in 2015. Right now, casting is also coming down to the wire on another genre blockbuster coming in the summer of ’15, Terminator Genesis, which will be a prequel.
While SHIELD has had some struggles in the ratings, it’s now heading into the new year with a character from the Thor universe making a cameo, Lady Sif.
The Walking Dead is back, and hate to sound like a broken record, but you knew it was going to bring monster ratings. In fact, this time zombies have actually beaten out the Olympics, just like they beat out Sunday Night Football back in October.
Escape From New York isn’t one of John Carpenter’s better movies, but it was always a great concept for a movie, especially back in the day when New York was a crime infested sewer. These days, New York has really cleaned itself up, and trying to remake it these days would probably make as much sense as trying to remake Revenge of the Nerds because the nerds already got their revenge. (Harry Potter, Bill Gates, etc.)
While a Dark Tower movie may be a real longshot, we’re still hoping for the best on this one. Maybe Ron Howard’s not the right guy for a genre classic, but he’s always been a pro who gets the job done, and he’s passionate about doing this project, which is what you want from a filmmaker.
Several years back, it was announced that there would be two sequels coming for ID4, one of the biggest sci-fi flicks of the ‘90’s. But the big question remained…would Will Smith return? Finally the speculation has ended, and Smith is taking a pass.
