E3 has always been the venue of dueling press
conferences and announcements and Nintendo has drawn first blood.

Nintendo announced that it will be releasing an accessory for their
Wiimote controller that will enhance its tracking and sensitivity.

Microsoft will take the wraps off DirectX 11 at its annual XNA
Gamefest, which is scheduled to take place on July 22 and 23 in

Sure the Nintendo Wii massively outsells the Xbox 360
every month, but a Microsoft director says the Wii isn’t a direct
competitor. Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s director of product
management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, told Gamasutra that the Sony
PlayStation 3 is the arch nemesis of the 360. He added that the 360
had more hard core hardware, something that gamers would graduate to
from the Nintendo Wii.
Real Networks relaunched its Rhapsody music store and follows the

The lawsuit over the inclusion of sex scenes in
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is turning out to be a big payday for
lawyers, but buyers of the game will get very little. You may remember
the minor scandal a few years back where players of the game could
unlock some steamy scenes with third-party software. Some people were
so offended that they filed a class action lawsuit against Rockstar
Games and its parent Take-Two Interactive. But now it’s apparent that
the real winners in this case aren’t the offended gamers (of which
there are actually very few).
Prior to Microsoft’s “Big Picture” gaming showcase held today in San
Francisco, corporate vice president John Schappert reminded us that,
despite what you may have heard, the Windows PC is the world’s dominant
gaming platform. Expect another big push from Microsoft to defend the
Windows PC against game consoles.
