Video: Duck Hunt pinball combines classic gaming with metal balls and flippers

Are you a gamer who grew up in the 80s? If so, you’ll almost certainly remember Nintendo’s Duck Hunt.

Yes, this title was packaged with a cool gun-shaped peripheral that let gamers shoot virtual ducks flying out of the grass. So if you happen to like Duck Hunt and pinball, you’ll love this analog and digital mash up below, which seems to have resulted in a Duck Hunt stand up pinball machine like once from the arcades of the 80s.

The pinball section of the machine is the analog type you’ll remember from the arcade with bumpers and bells and lights, along with big metal balls that shoot around using the flippers. However, it also boasts a computer in the top section of the cabinet that runs a version of the Duck Hunt game – complete with images and sounds synced up with the pinball action below.

The developers – Skit-B Pinball – note that the game is a side project, so the chances of it ever arriving in any remaining arcades are slim.

It’s been years since I heard the digital laughing of the virtual dog as he mocks you for missing ducks. Frankly, this is one of the coolest pinball machines I’ve seen in a long time. Check out the video above to see the game in action for yourself.
