Casting nearly complete for Jobs indie biopic

Casting calls continue apace for the independent biopic depicting the early life of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

The indie film should not to be confused with the mega-budget Jobs biography film currently being penned by Aaron Sorkin at the request of Sony. Rather, Jobs – played by Ashton Kutcher – is considered an independent film project that is likely to hit direct TV rather than theaters across the country.

Now we’ve known for quite a while that Kutcher would play the lead role in the film.

We’ve also previously reported that parts of the movie are being filmed in the actual garage where Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak found Apple back in the 70s.

In fact, photos of the actors on set have surfaced on more than one occasion.

As noted above, the casting process is continuing apace. Just last month we learned that Matthew Modine had been cast to play the role of former Apple CEO John Scully.

We also reported in May that actress Ahna O’Reilly would be playing the female lead as Steve Jobs’ former girlfriend Chris-Ann Brennan.

And now two more key roles in the film have apparently been cast.

Actor Kevin Dunn, who played Shia LaBeouf’s father in the Transformer series, will depict former Apple CEO Gil Amelio. Actor J.K. Simmons, perhaps best known for playing J. Johan Jameson in Spider-Man, take on the role of venture capitalist and Apple investor Arthur Rock.

A third actor, Elden Henson, has been cast to play original Mac development team member Andy Hertzfeld. Another recent addition to the cast is Giles Matthey, playing Apple Senior Vice President of Industrial Design Sir Jonathan Ive.

Other new names added to the roster include Lenny Jacobson, playing the part of Mac developer Burrell Smith, and Victor Rasuk, playing Apple’s first employee Bill Fernandez.
