Casting picks up on Rewind

Syfy has cast several new cast members for the pilot of its upcoming time-travel adventure serial Rewind.

We haven’t heard much about Rewind since it was announced a few months ago with the lead role already filled. Shane McRae is to play Henry Knox, the militaristic leader of a small team of special agents sent back in time to stop a terrorist plot before it comes together.

The remaining members of that team have now been filled. Robbie Jones will play another military man, and the second in command. The two will be joined by three civilian scientists: a historian, played by Keisha Castle Hughes; a Mathematician, played by Keon Mohajeri; and scientist, played by Jennifer Ferrin.

While we can’t always trust Syfy to know the difference between a good idea and a bad, their latest attempts at serialized genre television have been admirable. The best are Warehouse 13, Eureka, and Alphas, all three of which are produced by Universal Cable, the same company which is producing Rewind.

The network describes the show thus:

“Rewind revolves around a team of military field operatives and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter past events in order to change the future and avoid a devastating terrorist attack.”

No word as to just when the pilot for Rewind will air, but if they’ve got the principal cast, they’re likely planning to begin production before the end of the month, which means we may see the show premier in the 2012 Fall pilot season. More likely, however, it will appear in the Spring of 2013 to replace Eureka, which is currently running its final season.
