Solar powered Bibles to Haiti
We haven't got a teaser for this article that wouldn't put us in hell. Is it hot in here? I'm burning up, man!
Religious folks, bless them, mean well. Sure, everyone is sending out aid packages, and food, and medical supplies but, one group is going all super spiritual on the Haitians according to Reuters:
"As international aid agencies rush food, water and medicine to Haiti's earthquake victims, a U.S. faith-based group is sending Bibles to Haitians in their hour of need.
Not any Bible. These are solar-powered audible Bibles that can broadcast the holy scriptures in Haitian Creole to 300 people at a time.
Called the "Proclaimer," the audio Bible delivers "digital quality" and is designed for "poor and illiterate people," the Faith Comes By Hearing group said. It added 600 of the devices were already on their way to Haiti."
According to the Alburquerque, New Mexco organization, Faith Comes by Hearing, the Proclaimer works for 15 hours on a single charge and has a built in hand crank generator, as well as solar panels. They have an interactive 360 degree viewer of the device just in case you want to take a gander.
The site declares that a ministry partner in Haiti has told it the people are "thirsty for words of comfort and ask us for the Bible."
