Paris, France - A security guard was glassed by an exploding iPhone, AFP reported today.
The man, according to the report, was trying to type a text message when a piece of glass shrapnel hit him in the eye.
According to AFP, it's the second incident in France and a government regulatory body has opened an inquiry into just how safe Apple iPhones are.
Earlier this month the European Union opened an investigation into whether Apple products are dangerous. Apple has described them as isolated incidents but there's already some concern about iPods bursting into flames.
The problem is laid at the feet of lithium ion batteries - these, if not constructed properly can cause problems to computer companies such as Dell, which was a bit of a cause célebre in 2006 when a machine burst into flames in Japan.
