Seoul (Korea) – Samsung has announced their upcoming third-generation Blu-ray players that will be released in the fall. The BD-P1400 and P2400 will have 1080p playback and will upscale DVDs to 1080p resolution (provided you use HDMI).
Both players will also have component, S-Video and strangely enough Composite outputs. Audio-wise the players will have Dolby Digital Plus and 5.1 optical output. Samsung is marketing the P2400 as the higher end player because of its Silicon Optix HQV chip which promises better upscaling and de-interlacing of DVD and Blu-ray content.
The BD-P1400 will be available for $550 in September while the P2400 will sell for $650 in October.
