Apple TV runs Mac OS X, review reveals
Culver City (CA) - Apple TV is shipping to customers and the first reviews are beginning to reveal more details about how the system works. The Wall Street Journal has published a review which says that Apple TV does run a slightly modified version of the Mac OS X, though they found that the lack of direct internet access - for example to allow users to purchase products from iTunes directly to the Apple TV box - is a minor point of contention.
The system apparently works well on both Windows and Mac machines, streaming audio and video to TV's over WiFi networks without stuttering or buffering issues. Whether or not the system will take off and become as ubiquitous a trend setter as its iPod counterpart remains to be seen.
