Wal-Mart lowering prices on gadgets
Wal-Mart is rolling back prices on dozens of televisions and gadgets in an effort to attract cooler shoppers. Televisions will have the deepest cuts with a Panasonic 42" HD plasma television selling for $1294 and an RCA 32" LCD HDTV for $847.
Wal-Mart has always sold electronics, but isn't considered to be a "hip" place to shop. The company has tried changing their image by getting in on the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 pre-order madness.
Gary Severson, Wal-Mart's senior vice president and general merchandise manager Electronics, said the price drops should attract modern shoppers and adds, "From iPods to the soon to be released PS3 GameSystem, to the newest HDTV's, we have all the coolest electronics at the best value."
The cuts will be phased in from November through December 31.
