Intel stepping up Menlow Atom promotion

Intel is stepping up moves to promote its low-power consumption Menlow platform (Atom) and to clear inventories in preparation for the launch of its successor, Moorestown, which is expected to be launched in October, according to sources at notebook makers. Menlow was originally intended for small, typically touch screen, Internet connected devices – dubbed by Intel Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) – and was not expected to be adopted for notebooks or netbooks.
