Las Vegas (NV) - Palm announced today a new touch-screen smart phone and operating system. The device marks Palm's latest attempt to catch up with the Blackberry and iPhone. Called "Pre," it looks similar an iPhone, but with a 3.1" touch screen and a single button. The Pre body is black and slightly curved with a full QWERTY keyboard which slides out from the bottom when the button is pressed. It has WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, 8 GB storage space, 3 megapixel camera, audio and video playback. Like the iPhone, Pre's screen rotates from portrait to landscape when the device is rotated. Said Palm CEO, Ed Colligan, at a news conference, "We think it's the one phone you can use for your entire life and you'll really enjoy using it." See Associated Press.
