Las Vegas (NV) - Nova Mobile Systems is presenting today at the Consumer Electronics Show a new Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) based upon the Intel Atom processor. It is being called the SideArm 2 and it will, depending upon the needs of the user, support either Windows Vista, Windows XP or Linux.

The SideArm 2 sports a seven-inch touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard. It weighs less than two pounds and offers a 10+ hour battery option, which ups the weight slightly to around 2.5 pounds. The touchscreen is said to be fully daylight readable.

Connectivity features found standard in the SideArm 2 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, Gobi Broadband and cellular. It is designed for rugged use via its magnesium body and tested resistance to drops. It expands upon the original SideArm, which Nova developed as the world's first rugged UMPC.

Other features of the SideArm 2, depending upon the configuration, include two backlit keyboard styles, support for a 64GB SSD or 120GB hard drive and an all-weather sealed design. Consumer and professional models are both available.
