What a joke. They're clearly patent squatters who for the last 20 years have made no attempts to enforce their magical patents against a/v companies so they have no case.

[I was told by a patent attorney in 2004 that there is a required enforcement effort on behalf of the patent holder. If a patent is granted, it is expected that the holder will go after those misuing their patentable invention in a court of law. She warned me that this is a requirement and that if I win a patent for my invention, that is only the beginning. -Rick]

Seriously, even if each company sends a single million-dollar lawyer to the trial, these people would be drawn out in court for 100 years.
