Tokyo (Japan) - NeuroSky, a developer of wearable bio-sensors, is showing off a brainwave-controlled video game as a concept being jointly developed with Square Enix. It is being displayed at the Tokyo Game Show 2008 in Makuhari, Japan, on October 9 and 10.

NeuroSky said this game operates in conjunction with Windows PC machines and features its commercial headset, MindSet. This headset is said to be capable of working with a variety of gaming platforms and that it looks much like regular headphones. The big difference though is the single electrode contacting the user’s forehead, which reads the player’s brainwave information, or EEG data, and "registers the current state of relaxation or concentration of players, allowing them to perform a variety of actions within the game."

No specific word was said on when this technical demonstration might actually make it to your video game consoles. When, and if, it does, we'll all begin to look like the Borg we are fighting against in the various Star Trek games.
