Basking Ridge (NJ) - Verizon Wireless has joined the 21st century and is now offering month-to-month mobile phone plans. Any of Verizon's nationwide voice and data plans will work with the new service and customers will not be hit with early termination fees when they cancel.
Prospective customers will need to buy new phones at full retail price or they can also switch their old CDMA phones from another provider. At this time it's unknown if Verizon will still do a credit check on new customers. The month-to-month plans are available to all new and current customers, however, current subscribers must finish out their contracts before moving to the month-to-month agreements.
Other carriers like T-Mobile, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile have offered month-to-month and pre-paid plans for years. AT&T, the largest mobile phone company in terms of subscribers, offers prepaid GoPhone plans, but the plans do not include all the services and benefits given to regular subscribers.
