Knoxville (TN) - The residence of David Kernell, who allegedly “hacked” Governor Sarah Palin’s Yahoo email account, was searched by FBI agents early Sunday morning, local TV station WBIR reports.
Agents arrived around midnight at Kernell’s apartment, which he shares with three roommates, interrupting a student party. WBIR reports that Kernell, 20-year old son of state Rep. Mike Kernell, and his friends fled the apartment when the FBI agents arrived. The FBI recorded the names of the remaining students and questioned them for “1.5 to 2 hours”. The agents also took pictures “of everything inside the apartment.” David Kernell is believed to have illegally accessed Sarah Palin’s email account and published background information of the “hacking” under the name “Rubico”. The FBI confirmed that it launched a formal investigation into the events on Wednesday. Mike Kernell declined to comment on the matter.
