Chicago (IL) – Adobe today informed its customers via newsletter that “something big is on the way”. According to the email, Adobe will announce its new Creative Suite 4 software, which more than likely will include Photoshop CS4, on September 23 during a webcast.
The webcast will finally reveal which “deeper end-to-end workflow integration", “cutting edge features”, productivity and performance enhancements” and “new services” this “must have release” of Adobe’s flagship product will include. Back in May, we reported about GPGPU acceleration features Adobe integrated in the alpha version of Photoshop, which was code-named Stonehenge. During a presentation, the presenter easily handled a GPGPU-accelerated 2 GB, 442 megapixel image like it was a 5 megapixel image on an 8-core Skulltrail system. We noted significant performance enhancements, which allowed the software to apply changes made through image zoom and a new rotate canvas tool “almost instantly”. Now it seems the wait is over and we will learn whether the GPGPU acceleration feature has made it into the final version as well. Beta versions of CS4 applications were made available back in May.
