Chicago (IL) - Venturi, a Monaco-based sports car manufacturer said it partnered with French tire company Michelin to introduce a next-generation electric super vehicle at the upcoming Paris Auto Show in October 2, 2008. The company declined to share any information prior to the unveiling of the vehicle, but stated that the vehicle is equipped with “unprecedented architecture, dynamic qualities and overall technological excellence
Venturi Fetish
Venturi currently has three electric vehicles that are all extremely different, so it’s intriguing to guess what the new supercar might look like. The Fetish, which costs $422,000, is a gigantic sports car equipped with a complete carbon fiber body. The vehicles production was delayed earlier in the year when Venturi made the decision to build a larger engine. The sports car is now equipped with 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, which is pretty powerful for an all electric vehicle, even when compared to the 248-horspower Tesla Roadster. The Fetish is expected to hit the streets beginning in June 2009.
The second widely known project by Venturi is the plug-in Eclectic. The Eclectic is equipped with solar panels and supports smart charging on a clean grid. The eclectic is currently still a concept vehicle, and was a prominent feature in the movie Babylyon A.D., where it was used as a police car of the future.
Most recently, the company has been working on the Astrolab, a solar powered vehicle that reportedly has been entered in the World Solar Challenge, which is a solar powered auto rally through the Outback of Australia. The Astrolab is capable of recharging its liquid-cooled NiMH Venturi NIV-7 Batteries while on the go utilizing 3.6 square meters of “nano-prism concentrating photovoltaic cells”.
