Cutting the price from $399 to $299 places it in the $300-500 price range?

When will I be able to replace my DVD R/W drive in my PC with a Blu-Ray equivalent for essentially the same cost? I mean, aside from adding loads of unwanted DRM tech all they did was change the wavelength of the laser, right?

I don't want to be too pessimistic, but I think that the answer to that question is never.

Some of my reasonings for this are:
1) Cost to manufacture the blu-ray diodes are higher.
2) Cost to license the "Blu-Ray" name is higher.
3) Limited availability and demand hold this product in the higher priced niche category.

I feel that Blu-Ray won't ever take on the popularity that DVD's have. And that's the main reason that you won't see a Blu-Ray drive at DVD drive costs.

I work for a major electronics retailer and we are developing new store signage to reflect the price drop. This will become effective 10/01/08.

What is wrong with this sentence? a $299 player is basically $300, and yes it fits the $300-500 range. Or are you just pointing out grammar corrections?
